about

After the popularity of another track “Shooting Stars” I wanted to create a similar melodic dance tune. However, the piano lead on “Shooting Stars” didn’t work on this and this song took on a life of its own with its orchestral strings, baroque harpsichord and the tense choir section in the middle making it twice as long and more dramatic than originally intended. Therefore, I imagined a battle between light and darkness shown by contrasting the bright happy first few minutes against the ominous middle section and then the first section returning but more triumphant. I wanted it to be dance-like but dramatic.
One happy accident: The song was going to start with the strings straightaway. However, on a recording session, I accidentally muted the strings revealing the spacey music underscore. I liked that sound and therefore decided to start the piece with the ambient synth intro, with the bright strings coming in later.
Why the name? It has an Italian feel and Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer who discovered Jupiter’s moons and whose ideas often clashed with the authorities‘ teaching at the time so this song with its baroque harpsichord, bright strings, space fx and heavy choirs sets the scene for this cosmic conflict.
All the choirs on the album are synths (as you might expect!) and mostly created on UVI Plugsound software.
