about

This 11 minute symphonic piece is inspired by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, with contrasting moods built around the opening four bar phrase. The original mix had narration (spoken by my wife, Sharon) at various intervals about the “light of this world“ - hence the track title. However I found (or rather, I was told) that the spoken phrases detracted from the music which should be allowed to just speak for itself. Therefore it remains completely instrumental although I may remix and release a version with narration as a bonus track sometime.
At the risk of spoiling the effect of the piece: The opening choir is played on synth (of course!) and shifts from an “Eh” sound to an “Oh” sound. The violin is also played on synth (again, of course!) using modulation to adjust the vibrato.
Due it length, complexity and contrast between sections, this song took longer to arrange, mix and master than any other track on the album and was very hard work to put it mildly.
