The opening section was originally intended to be the intro for Laika Legacy which has the same bpm, key and two-note chime bells. I pulled it because I wanted Laika Legacy to get to its main melody earlier in the song.
The opening wurbly sound is from Telstar on a Sound Effects library. With the Mellotron strings, this gave this intro to the album a 1960s sci-fi feel but I struggled to know how it would join with “Cosmic Invasion” which I intended to be track 2. I thought and thought about it one morning on the way to a train station but couldn’t come up with the answer. I stopped to buy a ticket from the machine and the idea came to me - this became the second livelier half of this track. It goes to show that ideas come when you stop thinking.
